Publishing Capabilities

As an administrator with full access to the wiki, you can assign publishing capabilities for specific users (of user roles). Anyone can create content, but not everyone can edit or publish it. With Helpie wiki, the admin can assign capabilities for user roles as defined by WordPress, the capabilities being

  • The ability to Add content
  • The ability to Edit content
  • The ability to Publish content
  • The ability to Approve which revision of the article gets published.

Revision System:

Created content can be edited by selected people who are given access, and the different version of the edits are shown under Revisions. The users with approve capability can choose a particular revision and publish it. The admin can also edit the maximum number of revisions to be stored ( to prevent your database from being overwhelmed )

Adding Categories and Tags:

While creating content, the specific category can be chosen or, a new category can also be created. Users can also add tags to their content in order to help others find their content easily.

Front-end editor – Create and Publish content in the simplest possible way

An easy and a simple front-end rich text editor is the best efficient way to encourage users to create content in your site. Even an amateur should be able to use the editor. Medium an online publish platform which offers to publish a hybrid collection of amateur and professional people and publications is a good example of this.

So having a rich text front-end editor is the most important thing for having a wiki site. Helpie wiki enables users to have the best experience in creating content by enabling a rich text and media rich front-end editor with just a click of a button on the wiki site.

Publishing Capabilities – control who can create, edit and publish articles

Allowing any user to create and publish contents maybe be good for an open wiki site. But for other purposes there needs to be a control over what kind of content is publish in a website because fake or improper content can really cause chaos.

For this purposes, Helpie wiki comes with Publishing Capabilities feature using which the admin can assign capabilities for user roles as defined by WordPress.

This kind of control in very crucial in helping maintain the quality of the content published in your site. For example, in Wikipedia, the most famed public wiki, though anyone can create and edit articles it has to be cleared by a moderator who is one among the 280 employees of the Wikimedia foundation.

Now you can finally build a full-fledged wiki site using WordPress and have all the added advantages that come with the WordPress platform.
